We know that getting the peace of mind that comes with the purchase of a baby monitor is a great feeling, but we wanted to share a little more information about one of the main reasons that so many parents buy baby monitors.
As Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) claims as many as 300 lives of children aged from new born up to one year in the UK alone, we recognise that this is a real threat that we should make an effort to increase the awareness of.
In an effort to do that, we commissioned a survey of mothers that had children aged between 1 – 12 months by an independent research company and asked them to find out more about what the UK public knew about SIDS and the results were quite shocking, just take a look below!
To make the information a little easier to understand, we asked our graphics team to create an infographic that would give you the chance to be able to see the information we found, without having to read through a whitepaper style study:
As you can see, the number of mothers that were asked within the survey that knew about SIDS was high, however it seems that with the threat a very real problem, many parents are willing to potentially increase the risk by either placing items into the cot with their child or even willing to co-sleep in order to keep their baby closer to them during the night.
You can find out more information about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) from a leaflet created by the Lullaby Trust for professionals here.
